Before complaining and shooting it down, try reading what's said?

The idea of follow up quizzes was raised multiple times, and people already think that they're better than everyone else, which apparently includes you with how you're posting here.

The link to the forum is hidden away, and doesn't even clearly state itself as being a community link. The rulebook is going to be a TL:DR subject, and the idea of needing to watch a 10 minute video being supported, when people have been shooting this down as too time-consuming is interesting, and affirms the previous post in here by someone about idea reception.

is true the rule book is too long but a nice rulings FAQ could be useful

problably the mods can come up with the top 10 ones (spell speed, questions about nomis and semi nomi, and xyz mechanic questions pop up really often on the chat)

but your idea of labeling players depending on how they did on the quiz is a terrible idea

there are many new players who are new to the game but learn really fast and you want them to be labeled 'novice' making them to be avoided like a plague by many players)

you want a quiz? k but NOT as part of the registration , it SHOULDNT be mandatory
and it SHOULDNT label players based on results

Any reasons behind why you believe that?

I'd like to point out, in case you haven't been reading it, that the point of the quiz is to have multiple levels of it, which can be attempted when you like so that you can keep your description accurate.

I just dont see why this is needed or will help >_> you will at some point face people who do not know as much as you, deal with it, you face people like this at tournaments, you don't get to see what they know/don't know or their skill level >_>. I just really don't see the point of this

Because it can be done and it will help regulate the sprawl which is the society that plays this?

It'll help alleviate pressure on the admins, cut down on rule queries, speed up battle time and generally make things better.

Okay, it's not that I think it's a BAD idea, I think it's just tedious, ineffective, and condescending.

How many of you guys actually FULLY understood the rules of Yu-Gi-Oh! when you first started playing? How many of you guys had a knowledgeable player help you out when you first started?

Heck, how many people actually fully understand the rules NOW? This is not a simple game with simple, inflexible mechanics. This is a broad, expansive game with thousands of cards, more being produced every few months, and a few of them have positively insane logic for the card rules.

Yes, we'd love to have a way to filter out absolute noobs from the competent players, but forcing everyone to take a test and then label them by their score isn't going to help them get better. Similarly, I doubt anyone here was a ruling prodigy when they first got into the game.

People make errors. People don't understand rules sometimes. They can be stubborn, defensive, or annoying. They could be entirely wrong and still be willing to argue about it for a half-hour before an admin tells them that no, Wattdragonfly does NOT get its effect when Call of the Haunted is Heavy Stormed (*eye twitch*). Or uh...whatever they were arguing about.

But if you make someone take a test just to make an account, they'll feel condescended to, which isn't fair, newbie or not.

It's not a way to filter them out, it's a way to help. If say - just as an example - those with no knowledge of the game are violet, and those with absolute are red, on a rainbow scale, then those players who are looking just for a duel with a competent player can find one at their level, or above if higher players deign to battle them.

For those amongst us who are inclined to help and instruct, they can specifically offer to help those in the lower spectrum to get better.

We already label based on score with the rating system, and people already demand battles based on that - which is laughable as it's an abuseable system.

You're decrying something as bad when it already exists within the game.

Players could apply to level up, taking the harder tests as and when they are ready.

And I don't see how a single additional stage of what is required to sign up will deter people if they already clicked to sign up.

A few questions to establish that they know the basics, whack them in at the basic level, and if they wish to show that they know more, they can.

You could even extend the system to encompass them as judges for matches at or below their level if you wished.

There's so much potential for expansion, in such a myriad field, and at the core of everything, it helps the playerbase.

It helps them know their duels will be at a level they want, it helps those who don't know how to play learn, and it helps ease the wait time for those who do get into ruling debates.
