Okay... attention to all netdeckers, quitters and ragequitters, gotta make this official so I don't wasting my time giving explaination over and over and over and over and over again and in the end you still doesn't accept it and quit after I explaing it, which is time consuming, and you won't believe until I post some links with some discussion AND NOT BEING ACCUSED AS VIRUS LINK
and I don't have tell you guys everytime to ask admin or some strangers in chat room to saving YOUR TIME and MY PRECIOUS TIME
:

Spoiler:

Update 02 Feb 2012: First thing to do when In case you opp still doesn't believe this article ?

Well... first thing, this article wasn't created by baseless thought, everything on it has the source that explained the effect as evidence, if you're opp won't read (or cann't read because they simply copy paste the deck itself), here some alternative option(s) :

When a monster would be Summoned, OR when a Spell Card, Trap Card or Effect Monster's effect is activated that includes an effect that Special Summons a monster(s): Pay 2000 Life Points; negate the Summon OR activation, and destroy that card.
*Note: Althought that Solemn Warning never can able to negate summon that caused by other card effect but always remember Solemn Warning negates summons that doesn't start chain, means this also including normal summon and flip summon (don't get confused with flip because monster attack/battle or card effect).

V.S

You can NOT negate monster that summoned by other card effect with solemn warning
(Of Course similiar rulings also will applies for Polymerization, Future Fusion, Instant Fusion, Gem-Knight Fusion / Particle Fusion / Pyroxene Fusion / Tablet Fusion etc.... and RITUALS) and MONSTER REBORN / Call of the Haunted and any other more similiar card(s)

It will "miss the timing" if you trying to negate the summon monster, you have to negate the spell/traps itself, not the monster

UPDATE: 13 Sept 2011 7:49 AM: Or more correct term : "illegal activation" instead "miss the timing"
    Sauce : http://forum.duelingnetwork.com/t5669-bottomless-traphole-ruling-another-question#73127
Look at this Study case I:
If a active miracle fusion and ask my opponent for response and he does nothing and then I summon my monster will he be able to active solemn warning now or did he missed his chance because my monster came from a card effect and he didnt negate it?

The answer is : NO He won't able to use Solemn Warnings

      WHY ?
Because : He missed his chance. It's an Activation Effect, which "Solemn Warning" should prevent, not Timing Summoning - like your "then 1 summ0n mah monster will h3 b3 able to active solemn warn-ing now" point.
In long story short, he missed his chance due to you had already play the plan. To make it correct, he should Warning your "Miracle Fusion" from start.

Study Case II :

Spoiler:

Wrong Logic

You cannot negate the Fusion Summon, you must negate Miracle Fusion. Miracle Fusion removes the Fusion materials at resolution, so if you negate it with Solemn Warning, the monsters are not removed from play and the Fusion monster is not Summoned.

Evil or Very Mad

-----------------==--=--==-----------------

And below heres are somes OTHER NEGATION(s) case that you need to know
Very related for the need to learn the difference between attempting to summon, and successfully summoning a monster, along with exactly what negation means.)

THUNDER KING Rai-Ou / Black Horn, SABER HOLE, Evoldarr Laggia or even SOLEMN JUDGEMENT also can NOT negate summon by other card effect

Credit to : Dest, @ thread "Ruling FAQ - Clearing up the most confusable rulings"

Much people still don't know how to properly negate a Special Summon. I hope to be able to clear up things here.

First of all, the summoning procedure. Lets say, you want to Special Summon "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. First, pay the cost (banish a face up Dragon), then the player attempts to place it on the field. Before actually hitting the field there is this... I'll call it "summon negation window". Cards like both "Solemn Warning" and "Solemn Judgment" as well as "Royal Oppression" can be activated here. Now if your opponent does not wish to activate anything in this window, your monster is considered to be Special Summoned successfully. Note that a monster which summon is negated has never hit the field. So cards like Tengu don't get their effects. Any "special summon only monster" (monsters with the term "This card can't be normal summoned or set. This card can only be special summoned by [...]") and anything from the extra deck can't be special summoned from the grave.

When a Special Summon through an effect occurs (such as a Special Summon resulting from the resolution of "Monster Reborn" or the effect of a resolving "Plaguespreader Zombie") the effect is activated and the costs are paid. Then, when it finished resolving the monster is successfully Special Summoned. Note, that the "summon negation window" can't be used here, because when the effect finished resolving the monster is already Special Summoned successfully. That window takes place in the middle of the resolution of a chain, you can not activate anything as a chain is trying to resolve. You must negate the activation of the card the effect comes that the summon will be resolving from.
So, what does this mean regarding some cards?

  • "Solemn Judgment" as well as "Thunder King Rai-Oh" and similar cards can not be used to negate effects that Special Summon (such as "Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness"). The best thing "Solemn Judgment" can do is negate a Spell/Trap that Special Summons.
  • Cards such as "Solemn Warning" and "Royal Oppression" also can negate effects that Special Summon, but they actually must use it on the effect. Once an effect begins resolving it is too late to negate the summon resolving from that card.

Now you might ask: How do I differ a inherent Special Summon from a Special Summon with an effect? Take these steps:

    1) If the monster is Xyz/Synchro Summoned (not with the effect of "Formula Synchron"!) or Special summoned only in the Main Phase due to a way written on its card text it is inherently Special Summoned.
    - 1a) The exceptions here are Dark Simorgh and Birdman whose Special Summons are treated as an ignition effect for some strange reason... most probably BKSS.
    - 1b) For those who ask, you can also tell that something like Meklords or TG Warwolf is a trigger by looking at those card texts (they also could be summoned in a phase other than main).
    2) If a monster from point 1 has also the ability to Special Summon itself from the Graveyard (such as "Machina Fortress") it is still considered an inherent Special Summon.
    3) If a monster can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard/Banished zone by a way written on its text (like "Plaguespreader Zombie") it is an effect Special Summon.
    - 3a) The only exception to this is Grapha whose ss from the grave is ruled as an inherent Special Summon.
    4) Ritual/Fusion Summons (except Contact Fusion) all occur due to a card effect (the Ritual Spell/Fusion Card). Note, that none of those cards have a [a href="#cost"]cost[/a] regarding Ritual/Fusion materials, so if the effect is negated nothing is sent to the grave.

UPDATE: 14 Aug 2011 7:00 AM:

You can NOT use solemn warning on Fusion Gate activation
Similiarly as, you can NOT Solemn Warning on FIELD SPELL like Black Rose Garden, Geartown. Skyscrapper 2, etc... activation

Q: But why can't Solemn Warning negate Fusion Gate itself? I thought Fusion Gate is like Miracle Fusion, an effect that special summons monster(s)

A: It's because when you first activate Fusion Gate (place it face-up), it does not perform a Special Summon. This is the only time in which you can respond with Solemn Warning, but you fail to meet Warning's requirement. After that, it's too late.

Solemn Warning cannot negate the effects of already face up spell or traps, it would have to negate the initial activation however Fusion Gate does not perform a special summon when it is initially activated.

Dont confuse it with ROYAL OPRESSION

raidou wrote:Q: Why ?
A: S. warning can NOT negate geartown because it has to negate s/t activations not effects
thats why warning wont work on geartown or black garden (royal opp can negate those)

Q: What about FUTURE FUSION then ?
A: Look at those quotes :

Credit : Dest
Sauce: http://forum.duelingnetwork.com/t2754-ruling-faq-clearing-up-the-most-confusable-rulings#futfus
5.11 Future Fusion

Link: Ruling FAQ - Clearing up the most confusable rulings 5.11

Many of you might ask something like "can I use Warning on Future Fusion since it doesn't summon right away or it is the same as with "Infernity Launcher"?" or other Questions like that. Well, let me clear that up:

    • You can activate Oppression/Warning in chain to Future Fusions initial activation. The special summon does not start a chain, so you can't activate Oppression in the 2nd Standby Phase to negate it.

-----------------==--=--==-----------------

UPDATE: 30 Aug 2011 07:05:

Call of the Mummy, Valhalla, Water Hazard, Infernity Launcher, and this kind type of continuous card can not be warninged

Q: Why ?
A: Because.... its works same as fusion gate, it does not summon monster on resolution. Refer to Fusion Gate explaination for this

Credit: Badass_Bunny
Sauce: http://forum.duelingnetwork.com/t4215p25-a-solemn-warning-ruling-you-might-not-know#65476
When it comes to cards that don't special summon at resolution like Vallhala, Hall Of The Falle or Fusion Gate. Those cards can't be stopped by Solemn Warning, not upon activation and not when their effects are used. However Royal Oppression will be able to stop cards like that, but only when their effects are used and not when those cards are activated.

    Example:
    Player A: Activates Fusion Gate
Player B: Can't activate Solemn Warning nor Royal Oppression
Player A: Activates Fusion Gate effect and tries to Fusion Summon
Player B: Can't activate Solemn Warning. But he/she can activate Royal Oppression. Fusion Gate will be destroyed, Fusion Materials will stay in hand and Fusion Monster will stay in Extra Deck

    Hope that explains it.

Q: How About in case a special summon monster summoned by ( throught ) other monster effect like Gravekeeper's Spy, Mystic Tomato, Mother Grizzly, Shining Angel, Giant Rat, and any Gladiator Beasts tag for example ?

A: You can negate those types of summon with Solemn Warning, in case you do the monsters whose effect you negated will be destroyed. The monsters they attempted to summon will stay wherever they are(deck/extra/Grave/hand)

[size=11]* Remember, you use Solemn Warning at the monster that causes the summon...
NOT the summoned monster (by other card effect)

    Example:
    A: Destroys Mystic Tomato
    B: Uses Mystic Tomato effect.
    A: Activates Solemn Warning

So Mystic Tomato will be destroyed and the monster Mystic Tomato tried to summon will stay in deck.

    A: Tags Out GB Laquari
    B: Activates Solemn Warning

Solemn Warning will negate Laguari's eff, Laquari and the monster that Laquarip tried to summon will both stay in deck.
Yes your read it correct... Solemn Warning for Gladiator Beast, the inital monster that got solemn warning-ed will stay on deck instead send to graveyard, because card(s) in deck cann't be destroyed, except with some exception like chain dissapearance..

(to be truth, I have lots time mods giving wrong rulings, I am not sure if they really know rulings or not ? Hence, I never ask anymore from in-game mods since my last ban, because asking ruling to them equal as ban hammer in case they have different argument. Asking in forum in far far far nicer than asking in-game)

Missed timing is something people have a hard time with in yugioh. It is the leading cause of ruling problems.

There's no reason to get angry about it. In defense of people like that, Konami has released no official ruling on Solemn Warning specifically. You can say Warning one of the "similar cards" to Judgement or Raioh, but it's actually a little different. Warning's first effect is to negate "the Summon," not "Special Summon," "Normal," "Flip," just "Summon." A Fusion Summon is a "Summon." So It would make perfect sense that it should be able to negate it.
And the guy obviously didn't want to negate the magic card because he wanted you to remove the cards from your grave. You could have been more understanding and let him take the move back and negate the magic card instead. From the picture you were clearly going to wreck him anyway. If you put yourself in his shoes, imagine someone's already beating you then they have to go and be a jerk about a ruling when they're gonna win anyway. Wouldn't that make you want to quit?

Post  JDC on 2011-08-13, 16:39

Personally, I believe your opponent should get more used to how it would be done in a Konami tournament. The entire Fusion Summon, including banishing monsters, is done on RESOLUTION, you do not select the monsters when you activate the card. Once cards start resolving, no cards may be activated until the entire chain has finished resolving completely. People need to learn the difference between activation and resolution of a card, and what happens at each step. It's explained quite clearly in the official rulebook, although some of the older cards don't clearly differentiate between what happens on activation, and what happens on resolution. Fusion summon spell cards, in general, have NOTHING happen on activation, but all the stuff happens when the card resolves (Super Polymerization has a cost on activation, but that's it AFAIK).

In the case of chains which involve summons, by the time the chains resolve, the summons have been carried out successfully (i.e. the monster actually hits the field, instead of being stuck in limbo), therefore it is to late to negate the summon because it has already happened.

While its not looks like it, my opp was using some kind netdecker tier which I have hard time to countering it. I know he netdeck it because he doing quite some misplay

And its not fun against people who doesn't use their brains and yet still winning. While you build your own deck with through checkcing each card per card and easilsy smashed by some random kids using some random top tiers deck. How can you can NOT get angry for that ? Oh well.. YGO now has changes, no fun allowed, either you using netdecker deck, or you will lose.

BUT when you destroy ONE for their netdeck card, and just LEAVE. WTF MAN ! I fought hard time, and got crushed easily because those autopilots, and yet they leave after I going thourgh all the effort against those netdeckers deck.

Heres come another ragequitters :

tldr; He already said proceed to my polymerization, and then I giving him the link why he cann't use solemn judgement, and after that he soon start raging, and drawing 6 or 8 cards from his deck. (Note, it still MY turn)

and last he quit

I giving rulings, they wont' accept it
I ask them search themself, they won't too...
What gonna do ?

I hate netdeckers, They didn't even read their own card or following rules, they didn't want admit their mistakes, and yet they still win with their cheatings, and got big ranks without using their brains at all... happen all the time, and when I rage... I got ban from mods

Well... gotta give pics for proof:

I would think that most rulings would be sorta common sense.

Then again, we all know that Konami cant design or rule cards for s**t

Re: A SOLEMN WARNING (and some others negation) ruling you might not know.

Post  Vough on 2011-08-25, 19:44

It's pretty straightforward if you ask me, if it doesn't summon at resolution, then Warning can't negate it. It can't negate Continuous S/Ts that do not Special Summon during resolution, so Valhalla is out. It cannot negate the summon a monster AFTER the resolution of an S/T. It's not hard to negate.

Question: if Warning sends a Sangan/Tengu, etc, does its effect activate?

Uh.. geartown....
that was not added because I cann't get satisfying answer with geartown, I'll edit it later
Geartown alone itself already hard to deal, esp Raging player who activate geartown over my skyscrapper field, AND I CHAIN GEARTOWN with MST.... (IT WONT SUMMON ANY ANCIENT GEAR, even it destoyed and send to grave with this chain)

but for sure, I knew solemn warning Can not negate geartown special summon effect. nor negate its activation...

Maybe other can give better satisfiying explaination ? Laughing

even if destroyed geartown still resolves the reason it cant summon a gear if destroyed in a chain is because geartown resolving is the last to happen

for geartown to summon the last to happen has to be geartown being destroyed

geartown >mst targeting geartown

geartown is destroyed and after that geartown resolves

warning cant negate geartown because it has to negate s/t activations not effects

thats why warning wont work on geartown or black garden (royal opp can negate those)

i hope this becomes a nice topic to link all those who say ingame ' warning can negate everything!'

Sometimes I think the rules are just to complicated.... Not saying warning is way to complicated, but come on.... negate the summon EXCEPT this and EXCEPT that... omg. Konami needs to make rulings for cards like these, but they're too lazy -_-

With Geartown, doesn't the SS effect activate in the grave? If so, then Solemn Warning should be able to negate it because the Spell is activating. Solemn Judgment, however, would not.

Once the effect resolves, you cannot negate the summon of Ancient Gear Gadjitron Dragon with either card (this is the only thing people SS with it anyway).

Nope, Warning needs to negate activation of the card not the activation of a card effect

are you sure? i found this ruling on Geartown

Geartown wrote:
When "Geartown" or "Morphtronic Map" is activated from the hand, the effect of "Royal Oppression" cannot be activated.

so i assume Royal Oppression/Solemn Warning can be activated in response to their second effects (otherwise this ruling would be pointless), but oppression might be different from warning in this case... :/

Oppression can negate the "effect of a card"
Warning can negate "activation of a card" or "Effect of a monster"

Warning can't negate effect of a spell or trap card.

Ok so let me get a few things clear, I'm not good with rulings as some of you might know even though ive been playing this game for years :#

Solemn warning cant negate the activation of fusion gate but can it negate the summon of a monster summoned by fusion gate and also negate the summon of a monster summoned by future fusion too?

The special summon does not start a chain. You can only negate the activation.

One cool thing about this card is that it negates Macro Cosmos

Sexy Candy Panda wrote:i knew all of this but my only question is can i warning future fusion??

Yes you can, and you can do it when the Future Fusion is activated not when the monster is special summoned. This ruling goes for both Oppression and Warning

Hope that explains it.

kangtuji wrote:Q: How About in case a special summon monster summoned via other monster effect like Gravekeeper's Spy, Mystic Tomato, and any Gladiator Beasts ?

A: Same shit... it will miss the chance if you warning the summoned monster via other card effect. The only monster that you can warning is an Inherit summon itself (not by other card effect) like SYNCRO MONSTERS, XYZ monsters, Cyber Dragon, Gorz, Tragodeia, etc...
You can safely use solemn warning those kind of Inherit special summon monsters (but not Rituals or Fusion summon monster itself, you have to negate the spell/trap card(s) not the monster)

Wait what the f...

You can perfectly fine negate effect of a monster that special summons another monsters.

I was meant to talking about the Descendant, not spy itself

English is not my strong point

"Q: How About in case a special summon monster summoned via other monster effect like Gravekeeper's Spy, Mystic Tomato, and any Gladiator Beasts ?"

Maybe I should edit it and replace with word "by" ?

Q: How About in case a special summon monster summoned via other monster effect like Gravekeeper's Spy, Mystic Tomato, and any Gladiator Beasts ?

A: You can negate those types of summon with Solemn Warning, in case you do the monsters whose effect you negated will be destroyed. The monsters they attempted to summon will stay wherever they are(deck/extra/Grave/hand)

Example:
A: Destroys MysticTomato
B: Uses Tomato effect.
A: Activates Solemn Warning

So Mystic Tomato will be destroyed and the monster Tomato tried to summon will stay in deck.

A: Tags Out GB Laquari
B: Activates Solemn Warning

Solemn Warning will negate Laguari's eff, Laquari and the monster that Laquari tried to summon will both stay in deck.

Re: A SOLEMN WARNING (and some others negation) ruling you might not know.

Post  JDC on 2011-09-12, 21:34

Technically, when you use a monster's effect like GK's spy, you don't select the monster to SS until the effect resolves, and if the effect is allowed to resolve, the resolution ends with the successful special summon of the monster, by which time it's too late to activate Solemn Warning. The same goes for many cards involving Fusion summons, you don't get to see what your opponent is going to summon before you're allowed to negate it, because the selection(s) happen on resolution, and when that happens, no cards may be activated until the entire chain has finished resolving, in which case the monster(s) will have been successfully special summoned on to the field. If you want to stop stuff like GK's spy, you must negate the activation of the effect by chaining Solemn Warning directly to the activation of the special summon effect (which will negate the effect of the card that is trying to do the SS and destroy it, if Solemn Warning is allowed to resolve).

Hmmm... I am pretty sure that solemn warning / judgment cann't negate case A...

But let us discuss it here.

Case A)
A Still Fresh Destiny hero Dasher on graveyard, revealing and special summon a monster on draw phase.

Case B)
A Still Fresh Elemental Hero Necroshade on graveyard, normal summon without tributing Elemental Hero Neos or Elemental Hero Bladedge

A) Judgment can't negate monster effects, so no. Warning can negate monster effects, so the monster stays in hand and is never summoned. Also Dashers effect can't be activated again then.

B) Both, Judgement and Warning, will negate the summon of the level 7+ hero. Unlike dasher who is a trigger (triggers when a monster is drawn in the draw phase) necroshade places a summoning condition that allows 7+ hero monsters to be normal summoned without tribute. Condition is not a negateable effect, you just negate the summon of the monster, like any other normal summon.

i dont know why to do that much of explanation, the rule of SW is so easy to understand:

"When you activate a Spell or Trap Card that targets, you choose the target(s) when you activate the card, before your opponent decides whether or not to Chain to it. So if you want to negate the activation of a card like "Monster Reborn" or "Call of the Haunted" with "Solemn Warning", you must chain "Solemn Warning" after "Monster Reborn"/"Call of the Haunted" have declared a monster in the graveyard as a target.[3]"
